A little about Dr. McLainDr. McLain is recognized as a leader in spine surgery and education throughout the United States and the International Spine Surgery Community. A faculty member of the Cleveland Clinic for more than 16 years, he now serves as a member of the Surgical Staff of the Spine and Orthopaedic Institute for the St Vincent Charity Medical Center and Hospital. A noted researcher in biomechanics and neurophysiology, Dr. McLain is an Adjunct Professor of Chemical and Biomedical Engineering at Cleveland State University, and continues to serve as the principle investigator for both basic science and clinical research programs. He has written and taught extensively on the surgical treatment of the full spectrum of adult and pediatric spinal disorders, including cervical, thoracic and lumbar spinal disease. An author of over 180 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters on spinal disease and surgical treatment, Dr. McLain has won numerous awards for research and innovation. He combines the most well-established fundamental principles of spine care with cutting-edge technology and instrumentation to provide each individual with the best treatment for their spinal problem.

Honors and AwardsDr. McLain has received a number of awards for clinical and academic achievement over the years, including the American Orthopaedic Association's two most prestigious awards, the American/British/Canadian (ABC) Fellowship, and the North American Traveling Fellowship Award. he has received the Orthopaedic Research and Education Foundation Research Award, for basic scientific research, and several awards for individual research programs. He remains particularly proud to have earned 11 annual citations from Best Doctor's in America and America's Top Doctors since 2007. Dr. McLain was honored in 2012 by Crain's Business Journal as a "Healthcare Hero" for outstanding patient care, and is again, this year, recognized by Castle and Connolly as one of the Nation's Top Doctors in Orthopaedics and Spine Surgery.
Dr. McLain continues to serve as an instructor for surgical techniques at national and international forums, and as an editor for the top medical journals in Spine and Orthopaedic Surgery. He has served and continues to serve in leadership positions for the American Orthopaedic Association, the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, The North American Spine Society, the Scoliosis Research Society, and the Mid-America Orthopaedic Association. An Eagle Scout, Dr. McLain has remained an active supporter of Scouting and the Scouting program in the Cleveland area. |
